Current Status of Industrial Health Care Program in Korea


Abstract
In recent few years occupational diseases have been identified increasingly, and it became an hot political issue in Korea; this situation appears to be brought by considerably strengthened organizational power of labour unions.
Despite the inaugurated effort OF Korean government to cope with the problem, the current health care program for the workers is not running efficiently. Enormous deficiency of trained professionals, deficient research data peculier to Korean
situation,
lack of intention or motivation in terms of maticulous preventive efforts for both employer and workers, inefficient medical examination system, and inaccurate measurement of hazardous environmental factors are the major problems identified.
Preventive
strategies of occupational diseases are proposed and discussed by primary, secondary and tertiary level taking practicality and feasibility into account.
